Surviving the "Fall" Back: End of Daylight Saving Time

A vibe shift is forthcoming as daylight saving time (yes saving, not savings) has come to an end. For people who are fond of long days & late sunsets, this is without a doubt a dreaded time. On the other hand, there's people who appreciate the upcoming homey evenings & embrace the time change. Whether you anticipate this time of year or resent it, the fact of the matter is that the time set back can affect our internal clocks as well as our mental state. Setting the clock back shouldn't signify a settle into seasonal depression. Aim to maintain your inner peace by perfecting or adjusting your daily routine with these accessible tips!







Utilize the extra light in the morning & incorporate one or two beneficial activities into your schedule. By modifying your typical A.M., you'll be able to increase use of the daylight in a productive manner.

  • morning yoga and/or workout

  • meditation session

  • enjoy a cup of coffee or tea while in your comfort place (bedroom, den, etc)

Alter your aura by cleaning & redecorating. Experiment with furniture placements or try out a new color scheme. The time change is furthermore a proper period to complete quarterly or annual obligations.

  • add, remove, or adjust furniture

  • switch up the theme and colors in one or more rooms

  • check your smoke and carbon monoxide detector batteries

  • deep clean (gutters, medicine cabinets, etc)

Dark by six means cozy evenings. Steering clear of depression during these times is not easy whatsoever. If possible, attempt to view the moonlit nights as an opportunity for comfort.

  • host a book club & invite a few friends

  • enjoy a movie night with your partner

  • if you're a parent, tis' the season for baking seasonal treats & snuggling with your babies

Your sleep schedule matters & it certainly affects your state of your mind. Make sure you are nurturing your internal clock & getting proper rest throughout this time change!

  • nap in moderation

  • for a week, go to bed & wake up at the same times everyday

  • set a bedtime and morning routine (calm your mind at night & energize yourself in the morning)

Seasonal depression & mood disorders are common- for some of us it may be more complex to prevent or overcome. Believe it or not, a mere hour can influence our circadian rhythm if we're unprepared. Make use of this simple survival guide for a smooth transition into this season!
